Sara Slavin is a San Francisco based stylist and art director. With a background in both fine art and design she navigates the world of editorial, advertising and lifestyle photography.

Growing up in New York City and working in the influential and flourishing fine arts and design communities there, she then moved to San Francisco and began her freelance business, inspired by her lifetime love of photography. She works for clients thoughout the country on national and international brands such as Williams Sonoma, Mark & Graham, DWR, Diageo Wines, Chronicle Books and Artisan Books. Her editorial work has received numerous awards, including The James Beard Foundation, The IACP and CA Magazine. She is the co-author of 8 food and lifestyle books, as well as art director/stylist on over 50 books for chefs and food writers such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Alice Medrich, David Lebovitz, Michael Chiarello, Cecelia Chang, Joyce Goldstein and Emily Luchetti. She has also collaborated with Award winning designers such as Jennifer Morla, Level Design, Michael Mabry and Louise Fili.

When not hunting, gathering and shooting, Sara seeks inspiration from traveling the world in search of props, images and inspiration from art, food, cultural objects and the natural world. She lives north of San Francisco, in Marin County, with her husband, writer Mark Steisel, and their dog Sydney.
